GIORGIO DALLA CIA
Coming from a family of Grappa producers, and armed with a degree from the Conegliano Oenology School, Giorgio moved to South Africa with his family in 1974 from Pordenone, Italy.
For 25 years he devoted his experience to the Meerlust Estate, pioneering the creation of Bordeaux style blends in South Africa.
His name will forever be associated with the iconic Rubicon, which earned him the accolade of South Africa’s Champion Winemaker in 1980 and producer of the best red blend in the world in 2006.
GEORGE DALLA CIA
Son of Giorgio and Simonetta, George grew up in Stellenbosch, South Africa. He learnt the family secrets of fine grappa making passed on through generations and was initiated to wine making by his father.
Having studied marketing and graphic design George is also in charge of developing the family brand, and contributes diverse consumer–oriented skills to the family business.

Building on the age old tradition, we have a passion for innovation.
We pioneered Bordeaux style blends & Pinot Noir in South Africa since 1978 and in 2004 we started the first Italian grappa distillery in South Africa.
Our range of products includes seven different wines and six varieties of Grappa.
We also run an Italian food and wine bar – Pane e Vino – next door to the distillery, which gives patrons the opportunity to experience the true meaning of Italian hospitality.
