The Italian Social Club was officially formed on 28th February 1959 and with the time changed to became officially known as Italian Sporting Club. The Club is located at 17 Harold Road, Charlo, Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) 6070, South Africa.

It is the place were the Italian culture and traditions are preserved and is the only place in Port Elizabeth where the Italian citizen get together to celebrate anniversaries such as Italian Republic day (2nd June), festive days such as Christmas, Easter, Mother’s and Father’s Day etc.

The Club is also home to the Italian Honorary Vice-consul with a service rendered to the community. This is done every Wednesday afternoon 15:00 / 18:00 by appointment via e-mail: gqeberha.onorario@gmail.com

The Club offers the opportunity for learning the Italian language at the Scuola Italiana under the auspices of the Dante Alighieri Society of Cape Town.

Each Sunday a traditional Italian lunch is served and the heritage is preserved in a family-friendly environment. Pizza is also served on Wednesday evening after 18:00 and bar facilities are available.

Renting of hall facilities for wedding, birthday party etc. are also requested from members and non members.

Sport activities are limited to bocce tournaments in preparation of Pallino d’Oro. This is a competition initiated in Port Elizabeth many years ago and now it is held yearly in the various towns of South Africa where Italian Associations are established.

The Charlo Running Club is using the Italian Sporting Club as its base, organizing also their functions.
